Paris
Paris, the City of Love, completely encapsulates this unattainable fairy-tale. I visited the city myself in 2010 and spent most of my time in a cramped hostel, which was unfortunately situated next to an ambulance station, or waiting in queues for the big attractions. It is a beautiful city, no doubt, but it is hardly the hotbed of happy endings that we imagine it to be.
In the end, no matter where in the world we are, it is the people we choose to surround ourselves with that make those places so special, or so horrible. The back room of a pub can be just as romantic as an afternoon stroll through Luxembourg Gardens, if you’re with the right person. It’s just that the person you imagine is sometimes not the person you find.
I hope that the woman who inspired this story find her happy ending.
